“It’s like life before and after TV.”
That’s how Dr Louis Trichardt, a cosmetic dentist in Cape Town, South Africa, describes his practice since adopting Autoscriber. In our conversation with him it became clear why he describes it like this, it truly had a significant impact on his way of working.
For Dr.Tichardt, documentation used to take up a large part of his day. Now, with the support of Autoscriber’s Ambient Listening technology it automatically creates his clinical notes in the background whilst he is speaking, and optimises documentation.
“It’s drastically reduced the time I spend on documentation.”
This means he has more time to focus on procedures that matter, and can be more present during consultations.
Autoscriber doesn’t just make things faster. It makes things safer. Dr.Trichardt shared how structured documentation helps protect both patient and practitioner.
“Many claims come down to poor documentation. With Autoscriber, that risk is reduced. There’s a clear record of what was said, what was advised, and what decisions were made.”
That clarity is especially important in cosmetic dentistry, where expectations can be precise, and details matter.
When needed, Dr. Trichardt also shares the patient letter with his clients so that they are clear on what was discussed and advised, making it easier to keep track for all parties involved.
From medications to allergies, Autoscriber picks up details that are often forgotten, especially over time. It allows him to look back in detail over what was previously documented for example, which interventions the patient mentioned they were not keen to pursue.
Even when Dr.Trichardt walks through an X-ray with a patient, the explanation is captured automatically. The documentation is consistent, complete, and easy to access.
Dr.Trichardt uses Autoscriber in both languages, and trusts the summaries – even when the transcript isn’t perfect.
In seven months, only one patient raised a concern about the AI-scribe being used during the consultation. Dr.Trichardt explained that the recordings are deleted immediately, and notes are only accessible to him.
“Most patients don’t ask any questions about it. They just appreciate the easier flow.”
At Autoscriber, we believe that better care starts with better conversations. Dr.Trichardt’s story shows what that looks like in practice: less admin, more focus, stronger protection, and technology that fits into the background.
